Madison House coordinates volunteers, develops leaders, builds community partnerships, and promotes a lifelong commitment to service. We give UVA students a chance to connect with the community and turn classroom ideas into tangible action and impact.

Our Campaign Mission

Each semester, more than 2,500 University of Virginia undergraduates serve through Madison House as volunteers in Charlottesville or Albemarle County. Madison House staff, along with more than 300 students that uphold the UVA tradition of self-governance by serving as Madison House Program Directors, Head Program Directors, and Board members each year, coordinate volunteering efforts with over 110 community partners and 2,500+ annual volunteers.

Right now, more than 85% of our budget comes from annual gifts and donations from individuals and organizations like you. While we are beyond thankful for all of our current generous donors, the Campaign for Madison House aims to create greater financial sustainability, a vital effort that any successful future is contingent upon. In order to focus the campaign and address the areas of need, we have fleshed out Madison House’s intentions for ourselves, our students, and our community into a three point mission statement: Lead. Serve. Become.

To realize this vision, Madison House will raise $10 Million in philanthropic support during the Campaign for Madison House. Our efforts are organized by the three priorities highlighted below.
